Did you ever wonder what the world looks like through the lens of a 5 year old? One day I was going through the pictures on my phone and I noticed a series of pictures that my daughter had taken. There was a lot of crazy things on there, but there were also some amazing pictures. I couldn’t believe some of the unique perspectives she had on ordinary things. This made me think about my own childhood and the road trips I would go on.
One of my favorite things was getting to take pictures just like my parents. I remember getting one of the old Kodak cameras with the double roll film. Definitely an 80s child. I was so excited to take all the pictures. When we came back from our Yellowstone trip, my mom had over 20 different rolls of film between the three kids to develop. I’m not sure if she ever finished developing all those rolls because she was trying to spread out the cost. Thankfully, everything is digital now so I don’t have to worry about development costs.
I wanted to give my daughter the same opportunity I had. I ended up finding one of my old digital cameras for her to use. Somehow it works better now than when I used it. Each trip, I’m going to try and feature pictures from her perspective. So far, I’ve been quite surprised at what I’m finding. She may have a future in photography.
