Minnesota really knows how to create winter wonderlands. During the month of December, the whole state seems to try to outdo each other with their Holiday Light Displays. Check out some of the ones listed below.
Winter Wonderlands and Holiday Lights
Bentleyville Tour of the Lights, Duluth
November 18 – December 26
The Bentleyville Tour of lights enjoys 20 acres of free lighted displays. When I was in Duluth last, I saw the storage units of lights and this is amazing. Thye have over 4 million lights.
Winter Wonderland, Mankato
November 24th – December 31st
Every year, Mankato’s Sibley Park transforms itself into a winter wonderland. If you are looking for something to take your kids to or even for a date, check out what my DayTripper correspondent had to stay about her experience: Date Night at Kiwanis Holiday Lights.

Minneapolis has a long history with the Holidazzle. The celebration It includes movies in the park, Santa, fireworks and all kinds of other fun activities.
Hometown for the Holidays, Stillwater
November 18 – December 31
Historic main street comes to life filled with lights and so much more. Enjoy the unique boutiques and the restaurants of this magical town.
Nov 24 -26
The town of Taylors Falls comes alive during Thanksgiving weekend. Filled with all kinds of wonderful activities including parades, music, theater and even some Irish Dancing.
Making Spirits Bright, MN Landscape Arboretum
November 24 – January 1st
No extra tickets are required for this lighted display of lights. Live Music and spending time with Santa through the day. It should be fun! Check out my full review: Making Spirits Brighter at the MN Landscape Arboretum
Tree Lights Celebrations
Getting the holiday season off to a great start. These towns put on a great show for lighting up their trees. Check out some of the best festivals.
OVALumination Holiday Lighting
Over 100 evergreens will lit and line the ice rink. Inside enjoy some nice ice skating for everyone!
Tree Lighting Celebration, Anoka
Deck the Halls, Buffalo
Celebrate the season with carolers, horse-drawn wagon rides a visit from Santa and some hot chocolate. They light up the Christmas tree at 5. If you haven’t been to Buffalo before, it’s a great town with lots of fun things to do. Check out my post What to do in Buffalo Minnesota.
Holiday Tree Lighting, St. Paul
December 2 at 5:30
Minnesota’s version of Rockefeller Center, this celebration is one of the best in town. Hosted by myTalk 107.1 and includes performances by Six Appeal. They have Movie nights and in the additional fun throughout the weekend with their European Christmas Market.
