Stop in during any normal operating houses. It’s free!

Several guests and security guards alike have had all kinds of strange occurrences in the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s Connecticut Room. The upstairs period rooms have been known to have some mysterious figures hanging around that mysteriously vanish.

I wanted to check it out for myself. We decided to walk into the Connecticut Room and see for ourselves. I took my sister with me before they closed at night.

The second I walked in, everyone got silent and the temperature in the room dropped. It was like standing outside in winter. I couldn’t get out of it fast enough.

I returned the next day with my husband in the toe to a completely warm and inviting room. The experience made a believer out of me. It is one of my favorite real haunted places in MN.

Haunted by some gangsters that don’t want to leave. Legend has it that in the 20s it was the site of a deadly massacre by gangsters.

After the shots were flying, the hostess at the restaurant locked herself in the room and called 911. The police went in and came out an hour later.

They told her she must have dreamt it all. But where did the surviving gangsters go? And what happened to the bodies?

According to visitors’ accounts, the gangsters haven’t left the nightclub. Don’t worry, they are totally harmless. Guests of the cave report seeing apparitions and sounds of big band music from prohibition.

The Wabasha Street Caves offers tours, letting you get a peek at what happened there. On the tour, they show you bullet holes left over from the incident and take you back to the rooms.
