Moose at the Minnesota Zoo

Why You Need To Go To The MN ZOO In The Fall

As the weather starts to turn colder, everyone is trying to stay inside. I’m not sure why though because it’s the perfect time to take a stroll at the MN Zoo. Here are a few of the reasons why.

Weather

The animals are a lot more active in the cooler weather. Sure the bears are getting ready to go to hibernate, but most of the other animals are enjoying the changing weather.

The otters were swimming around. The warthogs were enjoying the pumpkin treat they got from their zoo keepers.

The moose were getting up close and personal with us. The best part was the camels. They came right up to us to say “Hello”.

They even looked a little sad as we decide to move along. I think that they were enjoying the fact that there were not as many people wandering around as much as we were.

Trees

In Fall the trees are stunning. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Partly because of the weather, but mostly because of the amazing changes that the tree’s go through. The zoo is no exception.

They have a lot of variety and you are guaranteed to see every type of tree possible. All kinds of trees mean all kinds of colors all in one place. It’s absolutely stunning. Make sure to bring your camera.

Treats

At the MN Zoo, the animals always get extra treats for Halloween too. A lot of times, they get pumpkins and other gourds to snack on.

Other animals may get Candy Corn shaped ice blocks with additional treats inside, like fish or meat. Either way, it’s fun to see how the zoo keepers are getting the animals into the spirit.

HallZooWeen

The Twin Cities is a hot spot for Family-Friendly Haunts and the MN Zoo doesn’t disappoint.  If you haven’t been to the Zoo around Halloween, you are missing out. They offer different activities for the kids and most of it is candy free.

I think one the reasons most adults buy candy for Trick-Or-Treaters is because we love seeing little kids coming to our house in costumes. The only problem is that the really little ones don’t always make it to your house.

Here, they all gather for one good time. As a parent, it’s also a great way for you to get some extra mileage out of your kids Halloween costumes!

They have different activities going on at the zoo, like scavenger hunts, musical entertainment and face painting. Plus, they aren’t winding your kids up with sugar, but tuckering them out!

Love Zoo’s

Minnesota has more than just the one zoo. We actually have quite a few. Check out all the locations around the state: The Best Zoo’s in Minnesota | From Aquariums to Animal Encounters

The MN Zoo has always been one of my kid’s favorite destinations. We got a zoo membership this year so we have the opportunity to see the animals year-round.

For the cost, it’s worth it. I defiantly recommend that you do the same. Soon I will be there for Winter at the Minnesota Zoo and are very excited. There is always something new to see.
