Why is Mirical at Big Rock is Wisconsin’s best-kept Christmas Light Display:

Great Location

Big Rock is located about 45 minutes outside of St Paul MN; the perfect distance for those who don’t want to be too close but still want to enjoy a unique holiday light festival.

The property was once the summer retreat of the Siems Brothers. These brothers worked alongside James J Hill on the Great Northern Railroad.

Now during the summer, it’s a popular retreat for weddings and large gatherings. In the winter, it’s the perfect location for a magical light show at this historic venue.

Amazing Staff

Big Rock is owned and managed by a few people, but they have created a totally memorable experience. Filled with shopping, sley rides, private Santa visits, magical warming tents, and fireworks.

Throughout the walk though, the staff is always there to assist, either making sure you take full advantage of all the activities or to even capturing that family photo you are looking for.

Beautiful Christmas Lights

They have a lot more lights than other places and they really make it special. They have over 15 million holiday lights on display. There are plenty of fun places to explore and get your magical pictures.

From the moment you get on the property, you know just how many details they’ve put into it. Make sure you take plenty of pictures while you enjoy this holiday event.

From a lighted experience, it is great to experience either driving or walking through.

12 Themed Holiday Light Displays

There are so many opportunities to snap some fun pictures through all the fun displays located throughout the property.

With over 10 Million lights, you’ll see things like the Enchanted Forest, S’moreland, Whoville, Nativity, the Singing Trees, Candy Cane Lane, and more.

There is something magical about every stop along the way. I went through a full camera battery on my phone because I couldn’t put my phone down. Here are a few of my favorites:

Enchanted Forest

This was the biggest draw for me. It’s having the magic of a hallmark movie and Disney world combined. The Enchanted Forest is magical without a doubt. The simple yellow lights, inside of the woods of Big Rock set alongside the lake make it absolutely stunning.

Tunnel

The tunnel was a surprise and delight for me. The lights are synced to music and creates a holiday light show worth talking about. The designs are always changing.

Whoville

A big surprise for me was Whoville. The color combinations of lights were whimsical and made me feel like I was in something Tim Burton and Dr. Suse created.

Food Trucks

Throughout the grounds, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get some great food from food trucks. The trucks are located at the main entrance, S’moreland, and by the heated barn. You won’t have to walk far to find something delicious.

Adults can pick up a cocktail or other adult beverage.

Visit with Santa

Looking for a magical visit to the Man in Red? Miracle at Big Rock has you covered. Inside the barn, you can meet with Santa. No reservations are needed.

In addition to being in the barn, Santa has been known to roam around and enjoy some of the fun light displays too.

You can even get private cookies and visits with Santa.

Miracle at Big Rock and a unique opportunity to reserve the cabin with Santa. Let the kids enjoy some time with Santa Claus while getting natural Santa photos of your time together.

This has an additional fee, but the photo opportunities are worth it. Make sure to reserve your time online.

Horse Drawn Hayrides and Sleigh Rides

Take a horse-drawn sleigh or tractor ride through the magical light displays. Both make their loop around the property. After getting your wristband, you can step onto any of the carts. Hop on and off as many times as you like.

Warm up with Local Artisans

Inside the heated barn is filled with local makers. There are plenty of holiday-inspired crafts to check out. Everything remains on sale through December 19th. It’s a great time to get your last-minute Christmas Gifts.

Visit with Maggie, the Highlander Cow

I’m a total sucker when it comes to Highlander Cows. If my neighborhood was zoned for them, I would have a dozen.

That’s why I was excited to see that Miracle at Big Rock had their own on the property. I was tickled. Unfortunately, Maggie was asleep when we arrived. Just bad timing on our part. Keep an eye out when you visit.

Winter Fireworks

One thing that I often take for granted is fireworks displays. While seeing them over the fourth of July on a hot summer night is fun, it also comes with plenty of mosquitos.

That’s why seeing them in winter is so much better. Not only is the temperature a lot more comfortable, but it’s also earlier in the night. This is perfect for families with smaller kids.

Fireworks are on Saturdays, and New Year’s Eve. Check out their Facebook page for updated schedules.

Sledding at Big Rock

Bring your sled and get the chance to take advantage of the fresh snowfall. Near the heated barn is a nice sledding hill for people of all ages.

The hill has a gentle slope, making it perfect to get some speed before leveling off to a finish. The hill is perfect for multiple trips down. You won’t want to miss this opportunity this holiday season.

Where is Miracle at Big Rock Creek?

The Miracle at Big Rock is located in St. Croix Falls, just on the other side of the river from Taylors Falls. I got to the area a little early to explore more of Osceola. They have some great restaurants.

You can also stop into Interstate State Park on either the MN or Wisconsin side. The whole area is a lot of fun to explore.

Where to park for Miracle at Big Rock?

They offer free parking on-site or VIP parking if you want to get a little closer to the gate. If you don’t want to spend the extra money on VIP parking, get there early. The lot fills up fast.

Is Miracle at Big Rock Mobility friendly?

If you have any mobility issues, I recommend doing the drive-thru version. After going through security, there is a decent-sized hill to do down. Once in the light exhibit, it’s fairly flat and easy to walk through. But you will have to go back up the hill on the way back to the car.

What does it cost for Miracle at Big Rock?

Miracle at Big Rock is $12 for Kids and Veterans, $17 for Adults for the walk-through displays (Thurs-Sun). Veterans are free on Thursdays. Or $35 per carload during the week (Mon-Weds). They offer season passes too.

When can I visit Mircale At Big Rock Run?

Miricale at Big rock is held November 24-December 31, from 4pm-10pm.

Would I go back to Miracle at Big Rock in St Croix Falls Wisconsin?

Yes, I really enjoyed the experience. While I may be considered a sucker for holiday lights, I need them to be done right. And Miracle at Big Rock did a phenomenal job of creating a unique experience, with classic old fashioned family fun and holiday charm.

I had to stop myself many times from staying too long at each exhibit so others could enjoy it too. This is an event you don’t want to miss. For more great holiday light displays near Minneapolis check out: Where to See Christmas Lights in MN
