FAQ Help Center

Welcome to the FAQ section, where we answer all of your burning questions about traveling with kids in Minnesota. Before we get started, let’s address the age-old question: “I have young kids, when is it too soon to take them out?” Well, if you ask us, the answer is never!

This is a big concern of new parents. If they wont remember it, why take them anywhere? You might as well never leave the house.

We loved our adventures with really young kids. It takes some planning, but they had a great time. So don’t be afraid to experience new things with them.

We use weekend to the max. One day is spend traveling around the state, and next is to recharge, get some laundry done. Maybe even get some groceries. I try and use long weekends as an excuse to go somewhere further away.

Your kids have every right to fly and sit anywhere they want. As long as you’ve paid for a ticket, it’s up to you who sits there.

Please quit apologizing for your kids. While airplane gift bags seem cute, you shouldn’t have to apologize for having the neve to bring them on board.

It’s all about mindset. A new place comes with all kinds of new experiences and new sites. We like to plan meals in advance. Road Trip when possible and be outdoors as much as we can.

You can also get into the world of credit card hacking to afford some of the other big ticket items. Just because you pay off the card every month!

Go at a slower place and stop often on the road. Make time for fun and let them get involved in the planning. For every “grown up stop” do a stop just for kids. It’s all about balance.

Any time! Summer is defiantly a great season, but I love them all.

Where do I start! North Shore is epic. For a mini version of it, do the river road in the southern part of the state. The cities have great museums and the West and South parts of the state are beautiful too!

Well, let me tell you, in Minnesota the weather is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get! One day you could be sunbathing in the hot summer sun, and the next day you could be snowshoeing through a blizzard.

And don’t even get me started on the mosquitoes, those little buggers are like mini helicopters that can carry you away! But hey, that’s just part of the charm of Minnesota, you never know what adventures the weather will bring.

So, pack your bags, grab your sunscreen and your parka, and come experience the unpredictable weather of Minnesota. Seriously, we have just about everything in the car at all times.

Minneapolis and St Paul are a great place to start. You can also hit up Duluth, Two Harbors and Grand Marais in the North Shore.

Red Wing, Hastings and Winona are beautiful cities in south and don’t forget Mankato.

Dress like an onion – layers, people! Lots and lots of layers. The temperature can fluctuate like crazy, so make sure you’re prepared for anything.

Get yourself some hot dish – it’s a Minnesota staple and the perfect comfort food to warm you up on a cold winter day.

Learn how to drive on ice – you might think you’re a pro behind the wheel, but ice is a whole different story. Take it slow and steady, and for the love of lutefisk, don’t slam on your brakes!

Embrace the cold – you’re in Minnesota, after all. Go ice fishing, cross-country skiing, or take a dip in a frozen lake (just kidding, please don’t do that).

Invest in a good pair of boots – you don’t want to be slipping and sliding all over the place. Trust us, it’s not a good look.
