Everything You Need to Know About Sever’s Holiday Lights in Shakopee

This impressive drive-through light show features over 2.5 million lights synchronized to holiday music.
My family has been making its way through many of the displays around Minnesota and I gotta say, I was very impressed with this larger-than-life display. So glad Severs invited me to see it in person.
The Lights
Sever’s added about 500,000 new lights this year, bringing the total to a whopping 2.5+ million twinkling bulbs.
As you wind your way along the half-mile course, you’ll see dancing lights choreographed to the sounds of the season emanating from your radio. Some exciting new light displays this year include:
- A 24′ tall x 24′ wide 3D gift box
- Singing Penguins
- Multiple tunnels to drive through
- A family of “drum giant” sculptures
- An expanded selfie park with new photo ops
Special Events
Come hungry for fresh cookies and refreshments. There is an optional stop halfway through the display to stop and get some treats.
Dates & Times
The light show runs from November 22 through December 31. Hours are:
- Sundays – Thursdays: 5-9 pm
- Fridays & Saturdays: 5-10 pm
- Peak week (December 17-25): 5-10 pm
Tickets
Due to high demand, tickets must be purchased online in advance:
- Sundays – Thursdays:1-7 passengers: $30
- 8+ passengers: $45
- Fridays, Saturdays & peak week:1-7 passengers: $45
- 8+ passengers: $60
When buying tickets, you’ll select a one-hour arrival time slot to manage traffic flow. Feel free to arrive anytime within your time slot.

Can I bring my dog?
Because the event is 90% in your car, you can bring your dog to Severs Holiday Lights!
How long does it take to drive through?
Plan to give yourself 30 – 60 minutes to fully enjoy the experience. We drove through it once, with limited cars, and did the whole thing, including the selfie station, in about 20 minutes.
We decided to go around again, and with the additional cars, it stopped up and took about 10 minutes to do a third of it. We ended up taking the emergency exit so we could make it to our dinner on time.
Do you have to buy tickets ahead of time?
Yes, Severs Holiday Lights often sells out, so buying tickets ahead of time will ensure that you have a great time.
Can you go through the light show more than once?
Yes, they have a re-entry lane to get back in and go around again. They let you do it as many times as you want. For your safety, don’t get out of your vehicle in the driving portion. Save it for the Selfie Lot.
