How to Get a Saint Paul Park Permit to Host an Event in 2024

Are you looking to host a party, concert, fair, or other event in one of Saint Paul’s beautiful public parks in 2024? Due to the high demand for the city’s scenic picnic areas and pavilions, there is often competition to book popular dates and locations.

That’s why Saint Paul uses a lottery system to give residents, businesses, and organizations an equal chance at reserving much sought-after sites.

If you want the best shot at throwing your event in your top choice spot next year, you need to act right now to enter the lottery before the December 20 deadline.

Enter The Saint Paul Park Permit Lottery

You can submit your entry into the 2024 park permit lottery online at stpaul.gov/parkpermits or by calling 651-266-6400 up until 4:30 p.m. on December 20, 2023.

Just one application per household or business is allowed. All entries will then be randomly sorted, and you’ll receive further instructions if yours is selected.

Prove Saint Paul Residency

Before being issued an actual permit, you’ll need to verify your residency or business location in Saint Paul.

Individual residents can show a valid driver’s license, while businesses should provide letterhead, stationery, or cards showing a city address. Tax-exempt organizations need to complete an additional form.

Apply For Park Permits Starting January 3

If you aren’t lucky enough to win the lottery, don’t worry. Starting January 3, 2024, all Saint Paul residents and businesses can call 651-266-6400 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays to request permits for unclaimed dates and sites on a first-come, first-served basis.

Beginning February 1, non-Saint Paul residents may also apply for any remaining open permits by phone or through the new online system launching next year.
